Every year, March 8 is a day putting forward the fight for equality between women and men. Officially recognized by the UN in 1977, it reminds us that, despite progress, inequalities still exist: wage gaps, gender-based violence, and the underrepresentation of women in many fields.
Women Who Made History :
Many women have played an important role in the fight for equality and in different fields:
Simone de Beauvoir (France): A philosopher and writer, she influenced feminist thinking with her book, The Second Sex. Malala Yousafzai (Pakistan): an activist for girls’ education, she won the Nobel Peace Prize at 17 years old. Rosa Parks (USA): A key figure in the fight against racial segregation. Marie Curie (Poland/France): the first woman to win a Nobel Prize for her discoveries in physics and chemistry. Frida Kahlo (Mexico): a committed artist who made history in art and feminism.
These women, and many others, have helped change mindsets and inspire new generations.
A Daily Fight: this day is an opportunity to raise awareness and take action. Debates, exhibitions, and testimonies—everyone can help make a difference. But equality is not just for one day; it is a daily commitment.
