Former British Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990. Conservative.


Margaret Thatcher was the first woman to serve as prime minister in Europe.

She had a strong anti-communist stance, and a speech she delivered in 1976 condemning communism earned her the nickname "Iron Lady" in the Soviet press.
